ASFA Life membership recognises distinguished members who have made outstanding contributions to the Association and field.

Bestowed by the ASFA Board in recognition of extraordinary and sustained contribution to the Solution Focused community in Australasia, ASFA is proud to recognise the following Life Members:

Brent Gardiner
An original member of ASFA and a long-serving member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Solution Focused Practice, Brent is a highly respected clinician and academic in the Solution Focused community in Australasia.
Michael Durrant
Michael is the founder of both The ASFA and the Journal of Solution Focused Practice. A clinician, author, and educator of international standing, he is responsible for inspiring and mentoring generations of Solution Focused practitioners across Australasia.
David Hains
David served as President of ASFA from 2018 to 2022, guiding the association through a period of significant growth. Together with Dr Sara Jordan, he took the Journal of Solution Focused Practice to the world stage, establishing an international management committee and making it freely accessible through an open-access platform at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Emma Burns
Emma is a former President and long-standing board member of ASFA, recognised for nearly three decades of leadership in Solution Focused practice, her influential work in suicide prevention, and her substantial contributions to the association and the broader Solution Focused community.
